You're going to have to sprint, I'd guess. LAX connections suck and it's the most stressful airport I've ever been through. Security was shocking last time I had to go through...I'm hoping it's better this trip.

If this is your outbound, you'll probably make it. If this is your inbound, it would be a miracle if you made it.

Looks like I'm passing you in the airports (well pretty close ;) ) - have a fabulous time in Australia!!

I rechecked my flight and it looks like I go directly from Sydney to NYC. Can that be possible?

Also, I have about 90 minutes to catch my flight from Brisbane to Cairns. I hope that is doable too. I didn't leave much time to catch my boat. I arrive in Cairns 12/3 and my boat leaves 12/4. I guess that was stupid.

i THINK, no promises but i think you will find when you arrive at Brissy airport you will see a int transfer sign and that should push you thru the checkini BS

fingers cross... HAVE FAITH!!! they do this all the time so visualize you arriving on time, relaxed and ready for a great holiday :multi:

Well kind of. We flew back on that same flight, gets into LAX around 0630 (QF107). That flight continued on to NYC from LAX, but everyone had to get off of the plane along with their carry on bags, collect their checked luggage, clear customs, drop the checked bags off at the re-check station, and then get back on the plane

The only thing I don't know is if they had to re-screen through security or if they had a way back up to the terminal without leaving the secured area. We had to change terminals so we missed that part.

I would give Qantas a call and ask them about it. If they don't know, call American as it's their terminal and they should know

Cheers

Thanks for the info. Actually, getting off the plane and stretching my legs doesn't sound like a bad idea. But I was really wondering if a plane had enough fuel to fly for 20 hours straight.

ok, for the first time ever im looking at a tide charge and IF i am reading it correctly, its looking good for mid morning dives at kurnel for weedies :multi:

carl, correct me if im wrong and when you get back

Thru 13th HT is 10.13
Fri 14th HT 10.54
Sat 15th HT 11.38
Sun we might squeeze in a early dive before your 24hr layoff before your flight home

so how do you feel about double dives on an incoming tide :multi:

getting excited/anxious yet??

Does that mean wearing doubles?? Hey, I'm all for diving anywhere anytime. Yes I am excited. Yes I am nervous. And the things I'm nervous about???

1) Will my house be trashed when I get home?
2) Will there be under-aged drinking parties and will the cops be called?
3) Will some stupid kid driving home from said under-aged drinking party crash his/her car and kill him/herself or someone else and will I be sued because of it?
4) Will I miss my connection and miss my boat?
5) Will my luggage get lost? Well, I can always rent gear on the Nimrod (for free) if it does, and I always carry a bathing suit and my camera, so no worries there, except for some clean underwear. :rofl3:

I'm so impressed you can read tide charts. When I diver around here, I let someone else do that because I have no idea what they mean.

i have no idea if i read the dive charts correctly, heck... it could be an outgoing tide which means we will be heading towards NZ in a jiffy but will get a nice ride the the rescue helicopter!! hehehe, but hubby will correct me when i ask him, if im wrong that is ;)

hmmmmmmmm - son is 18 now isnt he??? our alchohol rules are 18 here but we worry aboot the exact same stuff you do....

and no, not wearing doubles..... a dive, come back in for a break, drink, fruit and then another dive :multi: Kurnell is the only place we need to worry about tides as all the others arent a problem but i thought lets do the weedies FIRST and then we can chill on the other dives we have.

have you seen seahorses??? we have 2 VERY shallow (8ft) dives around the nets and last week counted 300 sea horses at manly

sit and think positive thoughts..... visualize your trip... visualize how EVERYTHING will go to plan and you will arrive excited, nervous but on time :multi:

Sounds awesome

Yes I have, but I have never EVER gotten a good photo of one. Could this be time when it happens? With 300 seahorses and no worries about NDL or running out of air (well, not very BIG worries:rofl3:) this might be it.

Zen and the art of travel. Sounds good to me.:rofl3:

Holy canolie's, how did I miss this? Fairy, I couldn't even read the last couple pages. I am sooooo excited for you! :multi: U going on your own or bringing a friend? I was just telling someone today that I can't wait to dive there. My friend just started working over that way. I am hoping to visit him one day and save the high cost of hotel expenses.

First I'm going to Cairns and diving the Nimrod with a group. Then I'm going by my lonesome to Sydney to see my mates, Almitywife and Carl. Hey, if you want to go back in 2009, I probably will because I know I will love it. Can't do it next year though.
