Can you at least pop the valve and look inside? I'd personally want to have a peek, as that'd really determine how much I'd be willing to spend.

Other questions: original hydro, last hydro, valve, and outside condition.

Assuming it's not trashed, $150-200.

As far as I know, told by seller, original hydro about 6 years ago. Last Viz was 2 year ago. Only been used a dozen of dives (of course). From picture, it looks OK. I won't be able to take a look at it until tomorrow evening. If I were to look inside, what should I look for? Just shine a flashlight inside and look for rust?

Personally, I think $200 is kind of high because hydro costs $50 here. But I haven't bought such a tank before, so won't know if I am being fair.

Considering that these go for $360 or so new, and a hydro is about $50, myself, I'd expect to pay closer to $250 for it . . . Just because hydro/vis expired doesn't mean it's a fire sale item . . .

You'll need to get a light inside the cylinder (just shining from the top won't really work). You want to check for possible rust and/or pitting. With significant amounts of either, I'd just pass.

As for cost, it's up to you as the buyer. You'll just have to weigh what the seller wants to get for what you can find elsewhere. I'm sure you can get it hydroed for cheaper if you look around (I wouldn't do it through a dive shop; I'd be looking to go straight to a hydro facility).

Yeah, I agree, you can't expect a fire sale. That said, I personally wouldn't pay $250 for a used HP100 then another $50 to get it hydroed. First, you can *always* find new cylinders for (at least a bit) less than list price if you shop around. Second, you have to consider the possibility that the cylinder doesn't pass hydro, in which case, you could be out a lot of money. Third, if the difference between used and new gets too narrow, might as well get new. Again, the cylinder's value is dependent on many factors we aren't privy to here. The OP would be best served to get a look at the cylinder and then make up his mind about price. Oh, and always offer a bit less than what you want to spend and negotiate up from there. :)

Hydro's here are $18 at Santa Rosa Fire.

I have bought a brand new X7-100 from ebay for $240 shipped. How much used? Well probably around the same for a used tank, but sometimes you get lucky. I have bought used ones in hydro for $150 each, which was a steal.

$18 for hydro is unheard of around here. Where in Santa Rosa?
