I bet the $50 hydro is via a shop which includes the hydro and VIP plus their time/expense for taking the cylinders to the hydro facility. For a steel cylinder out of hydro $150 would be my offer. Though a while back I paid $120 each for two LP cylinders in hydro but sans valves. I had valves so it was a deal for me.

If you decide to get these tanks, make sure you tell the seller that they must guarantee them passing hydro. That would suck if you spent $250 on a door stop.

The $50 (well, $49 and some . . ) hydro was a shop that did their own hydros, included a vis and an eddy on an older AL 80 . . . so sure, you can do better, but that wasn't my point . . .

I would pay a penny over $150.

additionally, does the tank have the more expensive 'DIN-yoke' convertable valve, which adds a few $ to its value, also consider that CA state sales tax is pretty high, and you may be avoiding having to pay that via a private party used purchase versus a retail new purchase from a LDS. If the tank is 'minty', I'd buy if the price were no higher than $ 150 - $ 200 (plus add in $50 for hydro/visual) net max price for me = $ 200 - $ 250 range.

Thanks for the tips, $200 it is. Hydro in 09, so a few more yr to go. Viz was done by my LSD for $10, passed. Came with thermo pro valve. I guess it is ok deal. Renting hp100 here costs $18 per weekend, I am tired of paying for rental at this point.

It just feels better owning your own tanks, and owning your own gear is the mark of a 'serious' diver.

I have always want to swith to steel for buoyancy charater. With hp 100, I use 14-16lb. With al80, it will be another 6lb. Weight belt start to become difficult to manage.

Other tank I have include lp85 and al80. I was going to get 2 lp85 from local cl. The seller sold one before I got to his place, such a bummer.
