Hi,

I had gotten 2 tanks from my lds last year, xs scuba 100 hp steels. Great tanks. So this spring, i order 4 more hp 100 steels. Didn't realize they'd be fabers. I probably could care less, except these are about 4-5" taller than my xs scubas. The boots I can change because they add a couple inches it seems. However, the tank specs when i look online appear to be exactly the same for height, weight, width, and buoyancy. Even when I line them up side by side taking the boot into consideration, the Fabers seem to be a couple inches longer. I would prefer shorter tanks, especially for my wife.

Any thoughts? They fabers look to be 27.x " rather than the rated 25. They do show the correct pressure and cf rating on the tank.

thanks,
bill

so Worthington doesn't make scuba cylinders anymore, the only new steels in this country are from Faber so unless you buy used you're rather SoL. Remove the boots and if they are the same length, you can get different boots for them, they're not brand specific for compatibility.

If 4-5" taller is true, It think they ship you the wrong tank. 4-5" taller is a huge deal. HP120 is about that much taller than HP100. I don't think any boot add that much height. My HP100 with boot (single) and without boot (double) are different by less than 1/2"

Well, you might be right, but you can still buy them at scuba.com. :)

I am right, they shut down a while ago, but the big shops have inventory. Dive Right in Scuba and Dive Gear Express still have a few I think, but they are certainly not "new", maybe never been dove, but they are almost 2 years old right now since I think the plant shut at the end of 2013

2 years on a steel tank....pffffffffft! :)

If you want the real story just post some pictures of the neck markings. XSScuba doesn't make cylinders. And you can't find hp Worthington anymore, only lp. I'd loved to be proven wrong though.

You can get the new XS scuba tanks, which are made by Faber..and there are some places that still have some LP Worthington/XS scuba tanks, but good luck finding XS scuba worthington HP cylinders. They are gone except for the second hand market now
