So as long as the bad weather doesn’t start until 11am, should be good to get in water about 8am. I may just snorkel, not scuba, but I really need to try out first new fins and then my new camera arrangement.

Yes, usually with the smaller ones but have done it with any size.

Last dive there was last year, went out to the point and little to no current and vis was good. Haven’t dove there this year yet. I noticed the same problem at FTW. Took an Advanced class into the east cove, we followed the rock wall out to the end with a plan to hit the 80 foot mark. We hit the end of the wall and the current was out of control, worse I have ever seen it. Even the fishermen on the rocks said it was really bad.The year before did the same dive and had minimal current. I guess you never know until you get there.
Heading to Kings Beach Wednesday the 11th. Any updates or condition reports from there?
Going out around the point at FTW a few years ago I found myself going hand over hand on the rocks. The current was faster than I could swim.

The good news it predictable. Slack water is matches the tables. Even in the coves you can find some pretty strong currents, occasionally.

Storm-Running To Ft Wetherill...

I can see sand through shallow water.
Snorkelled through noodle soup. I could put my hand on bottom and not see it, and since my arms are literally too short to box with God, I decided not to go any deeper, no SCUBA.

Ended up diving Potters Cove in Jamestown, about 8 foot of vis. Current was strong once we got out to Taylors point. The waves picked up a bit as we exited from dive 1. All in all, 2 good dives. Plus got a about a dozen quahogs. Stuffies for dinner tonight.

I grudgingly went into the mess at Ft. Wetherill, because I really needed to try out my new fins, and learn more about getting good gopro shots. Success on fins, and on learning what NOT to do with a gopro. Also I came out covered in long seaweed-grass which I had to peel off like Salome tossing off her scarves, (if they were slimy like seaweed.) So here are two anemones, that might be good subjects for fluorescence photos in a night dive.

Tossed around in the seaweed soup! :) Nice shot for what must have lousy conditions. I went to Beach Pond but the weeds have taken over. :(
It was 10' deep the last 5' weeds. I could see movement in small gaps in the weeds but mostly it was just weeds. Sad it was a nice place to test gear and close by.

I figured Beach Pond was off limits once the put the fence up at the old beach. That was a great spot, did a good majority of my Divemaster training there. Did you go in by the dock or new boat launch?

Actually I went to the CT ramp. The RI one was too busy with lots of scary jetskis going 60MPH+
I can't move that fast! The RI ramp is better, I think it's 25FFW there before you get into the zero vis zone below 30FFW, it as deep as 60FFW but it must be impossible to see anything. Unless at that depth everything is suspended above you and with a light you find the vis to be 100' a hidden u/w world, but I doubt it.

I got down as deep as 40 feet off the old beach. It was in January so the vis wasn’t that bad.

Maybe the cold water quiets things down? I've only been there in the spring and summer after the water as warmed some. I was going to do an ice dive there 2 years ago, the last one while I still can but never pulled the trigger.
