Was wondering where I could get the actual cord used for a can light so that I could extend my current can light for sidemount use?

Your friendly, neighborhood hardware store. Home Depot, Lowes, etc. Buy it by the foot. It's 16/2 SJOOW and should cost at or under $1/ft.
the trick is getting the light apart and back together without leaking
Return the light to the manufacturer and let them do the conversion?
Wow, never even thought of that, thanks!
victorzamora and I both extended our can lights with no issues, but he also used to work as an engineer at a company that designed and built aerospace/submarine grade wiring harnesses, and I've done a fair amount of soldering in my life as well. For us we weighed the material cost of like $5 and the fact that we don't put a dollar value on our time since we think stuff like that is fun, against the cost of someone else doing it and it didn't balance out for us. Not to say it doesn't balance out for you, but if you are confident in your soldering skills, there isn't really much to it
I think UWLD will do cord replacement on any canister light, and it's ~$60+shipping to have it done.
