Unfortunately everybody bolted for the holidays but your unit will be shipped out tomorrow. Which means you should have it no later than Friday, please give me a heads up when you get it. Did Martin and Nicky give you any idea on when the new electronics are going to ship and more importantly when they intend to add mixed gas to the deco? We should talk about a baby booster for you way out there in Singapore you'd be able to suck you supply cylinders dry.

I talked to Cliff at Silent Diving and he inferred that AP did some tests and found that diving in warmer water then the scrubber was tested and rated to doesn't increase the scrubber duration as the scrubber is so well insulated. That has to be a benefit to a thermoplastic scubber housing, as plastic has a poor heat transfer coefficient thus making it a good insulator compared to metal.

We have a test diver in the Philipines getting 12 hours on the extended cartridge and this is tested after the dive with CO2 monitoring as well, again these are not official results just one of many people out here diving them.

Lots of people dive ordinary scrubbers and claim all sorts of lengths of time for them without problems, so I'm not sure that someone simply using a scrubber for x amount of time really tells you much about how much time _I_ would get out of it.
I really don't have a problem with the current scrubber set up, extendair would be hideously pricey to be shipped here, whereas I can get sofnolime from Linde or Divex shipped overnight from Aberdeen.
I always end up dumping scrubbers if I'm going deep the next dive, so I probably would end uo doing the same with a cartridge

That's why we are all waiting from the test results from Martin, the same tests they run on the scrubber with granules will be run on the cartridges, as far as the expense in the UK I think that Martin will be handling distribution on that side of the pond and like everything quantitiy will bring the price down. Some people are perfectly content with granules and there is no reason to use anything else. There is a vast improvement in WOB with the cartridges, again people are content with their current setup. For me the ease of use is what it's all about, extended runtimes will be handy, WOB even better, being able to switch cartridges in less than a minute, very handy. They are most definitely not for everybody, some people bake their sofnolime to get more use out of it, others mix their used with fresh all to save a couple of dollars.

Fair enough - I just dumped my scrubber and refilled it, I didn't time it, but it took under 10 minutes, which is less time than I leave my unit for pressure tests - having said that one of the kids knocked over the cake tin stand it was on and it probably took an extra 10 minutes to hoover up the mess on the lounge carpet

Yeh trying to change a scrubber on a wet crowded and cluttered dive deck in choppy seas is a lot of fun!

Also it saves having to give my now well practiced 'introduction to RB diving and CO2 absorbtion techniques' lecture to check-in staff at the airport.

I take it, since you keep saying "we" in your posts, that you have some official capacity with the referenced company.

If that is so, I look forward to hearing the official results sometime in this new year. As I told the chap from your company, when he told me that the duration was less than the standard scrubber load: "Why would I want to pay more for something that would give me less time underwater? That is the opposite of what we are trying to do here!"

On the other side of the coin, so to speak, I would pay a little more per scrubber load for something that gave me MORE duration, and ease of use as well.

I think I'll let the test pilots go at it for a year or so before taking the leap. Was'nt there a fracture issue at 200'+? I maybe way off base just something I thought I heard....please correct me if I'm wrong. As far as price goes it would need to be very close to the trusty jug. I have 2 canisters and pack a spare on long trips, vacuum seal it, easy as pie.
