I'm planning a dive trip for May in key Largo, does anyone know the best exposure suit to wear. I assume a 3mm shorty will suffice as far as the temp. is concerned but are their any jellyfish or other concerns that would make me want to dive with a full suit...thanks

I travel to Key Largo once a month from California. You can monitor the current weather condition and look at historical data at the following web site:

http://seaboard.ndbc.noaa.gov/Maps/Florida.shtml

Select the MLRF1 tab. This tab is for Molasses Reef in key Largo.

In the winter I dive with a 3mm one piece. It's fun to listen to the locals complain about how cold the water is when it's down to 70F.

In the spring, summer and fall I don't wear a wetsuit at all.

Have a good dive.

I live and dive in Key Largo all year round. In May I wear a 3 mm shorty or just my bathing suit depending on the conditions. As far as jelly fish they really aren't a concern, but some people do get a rash from the sea lice. If that's a concern then a light skin will help.
