I collect diver watches, mostly Seikos and classic 1960s and 1970s working watches. I have a couple of higher end watches, but nothing that approaches the Omega which I have admired in display cases and such. Great time piece. I would wear it diving, although I prefer my 25 year old Seiko diver as it has been with me since day one. I would not wear the timepiece to a class. It has nothing to do with image and everthing to do with slepping gear, removing jewlery, and other things that new divers tend to do at the pool. I have helped teach many a class and inevitably find a watch left on deck as I do a final sweep to make sure all the gear is put away. But if the possibility of losing it during a pool session is not a big concern to you, wear it. That is what it was designed for and nothing quite has the feel of a substantial time piece.
