Actually if you study the phenomenal rise in the Chinese economy, part of its spectacular growth is due to an UNDERVALUED currency. If for example the dollar/peso is worth Php51/$; the government will force peg it at Php 100/$.

Yep. That's why the US gov't has been trying hard to change that. Has to do with that massive trade deficit. Americans love their cheap Chinese goods.

Lets be cautious though on the rise of the peso vs the dollar. I don't think its because of a strengthening Philippine economy but because of a weakening dollar as reflected on the gains of the other currencies in the region also. I think that as soon as the US economy starts to climb again and we don't keep up, we will see again the weakening of the peso.

don't you export bro? this should not be good for your business?

yeah i export but the bulk of my operations are local so the gains in the drop of the dollar is more beneficial as a whole to my company

slightly off-topic OFF TOPIC - just saw some report last night... export of japayukis dropped from 8400+ in march to something like 450 in may...

japayuki factories have been closing shop like roaches in a baygon factory and girls are going home job and peniless...
