Topping the list of strange/gross/ bizzare underwater finds,,,,today at sharks cove, human remains! Yup, whole box of em. EEewwww... Why didn't they just dump the box out? Now it's like cement....Now who from the board was I talking to about this???? Turns out I just missed an east coast visitor that was looking for a dive buddy. I was there and got out of the water with this persons group. LMAO. Near miss...So Im wondering who the guys were that had also found this box?

Ashes in a box. Clearly marked "human remains" and "in lovong memory.... Whole box full! Just chucked over the side I guess. Nothing but a big grey gritty lump now.

As in bones and whatnot or feces?
That's nasty

Yeah having been apart of a few burials at sea (w/ ashes), you generally don't chuck the whole bag overboard like an shotput, while at the same time trying to avoid a face full of someone's ashes (been there done that :D). Pretty safe bet, no (close) family was involved in that debacle, or he/she wasn't very well liked.

I've found a couple that weren't in a box, weren't prepared and probably didn't want to be there. 6 months old.

also a bit nasty.

I used to want my ashes to be scattered in my ex wifes face. I've mellowed over time and now I'll settle for a dump into the septic tank.

Was the box open or did you open it?

Eeww is right. We were just at Shark's Cove last week - where did you find it? I hope it was out a ways - considering how crowded that area gets, I hate to think of someone paddling out only about 50 yards in the middle of a bunch of snorkelers and people jumping off the rock and just dumping it there.

You call wanting to dump your ex-wife into a septic tank, mellowing? :)

Ok, I'm not night-diving with you :D Bad enough I worry about sharks and surf exits; don't need to worry about no ghosts and stuff too...

...Tom Winters mentioned scattering his girlfriend's ashes up at Ehukai in another Shark's Cove thread.....
