  • Tag for the shot line - don’t want the shot pulled up when I’m still on the wreck!
  • Strobe to find the shot line
  • Scooter to tour the wreck
  • 100m/330ft reel with self-inflating SMB in case of not finding the shot line
  • Spare SMB on 60m/200ft spool
  • Primary umbilical light as it’s invariably dark on the wreck
  • Backup lights
  • Backup computer -- ratio deco pah!
  • Pee valve — the second most important invention for scuba diving

Snacks.......Snacks Rule....
Soggy snacks, as opposed to Scooby Snacks that you leave on the boat?

My EDC List:
  • one forty-five caliber automatic
  • two boxes of ammunition
  • four days' concentrated emergency rations
  • one drug issue containing antibiotics, morphine, vitamin pills, pep pills, sleeping pills, tranquilizer pills
  • one miniature combination Russian phrase book and Bible
  • one hundred dollars in rubles
  • one hundred dollars in gold
  • nine packs of chewing gum
  • one issue of prophylactics
  • three lipsticks
  • three pair of nylons stockings
🤠
Two hundred bucks isn't going to get you far but I guess the lipsticks and nylons can help you earn some extra cash, if you have the legs for it.

"Shoot, a fella could have a pretty good weekend in Vegas with all that stuff!"

Nothing but one Victorinox cutting knife on my waist strap if it’s just a shore dive to get wet, get some exercise and look around, and a compass.
Those are always on me no matter what.
The only time the compass might get left behind is for urchin collection dives.

Start adding gear for hunting:
Second Riffe fish dispatching knife -pointy and sharp.
Spear gun
Game bag
BFK on left inner calf for gathering scallops
One back up light clipped to left D-ring for looking into holes and cracks
Trilobite line cutter if I’m diving the jetties due to a lot of fishing line.

New:
Large urchin collection bags
50# lift bag for full urchin bags
Urchin collecting rake (home made)

• DSMB+spool
• Spare mask
• Notebook, the notebook pocket containing spare pencils and a 15' piece of dyneema rope
• Multiple cutters mounted different places including one BFK
• Small spare light secured in the DIR style

That is the bare minimum standard on EVERY dive. In reality there's invariably a mix of additions appropriate for the mission and conditions.

Most guys here pack WAY heavier than I do. Didn’t know I was such a minimalist.
-gigantic old Scubapro dive knife on my weight belt
-little backup light, even in clear water and bright sun
These days solo shore diving is the only sort I seem to do so I also take:
-pony bottle
-key ring (car has plain mechanical lock)
