On one trip to Catalina form San Pedro last summer I saw my first Mola Mola, and during that trip we saw so many, I lost count. Mola Mola by themself, and in groups of 5 or 6. They were all about 4-6 feet across.

I've seen these fish about six years ago in the hakaii pass area, they came in with the warmer currents during the big el nino year, also seen man o war jellyfish, got some great pics of the critters when I was commercial fishing there at the time

Whenever I visited a friend who lived and worked at Point Reyes, there were always a few Mola Mola in sight. As they are extremely rare in my neck of the woods I was fascinated and spent literally hours watching 'em with binocs.
I've yet to see one diving, but would sure like to.
Rick

I spotted a pair of them around 3ft across at N. Monastary last week in 80ft of water. Seemed quite shy as they dissapeared as soon as they realized my buddy and I were watching them. Anyone had luck approaching them?

Seen them in Monterey before. Also seen a sealion tossing one like a frisbee on the surface to tear the fins off to eat. The only time I didn't like seeing a sealion.
