my cousin knocked over his boat last year:lol: and lost all the stuff out of it. I thought about doing a dive to see if I could find any of the gear (poles, trollling motor, etc) that fell out of it. I figure the chances are slim, due to time frame and well..... it is a farm pond.

but it could be a chance to get wet and have some fun.

The first sign of addiction is wanting to dive in the bathtub. Seems like your already past that stage... oh yeah... hes hooked!! :D

I have, and it has always amounted to diving by braille

However, with something to recover, it is usually not too bad, depths are usually shallow, and if pond is not very large, or you have really good idea where stuff was lost, recovery of items is very likely, unless they are very small.

otherwise, it is usually just good exercise diving in 'blackout' conditions :)

I used to do some diving for a guy that owned a pond management company and I've dived all kinds of little ponds.

As was already said you stand a good chance of finding the big stuff and maybe even lots of the smaller stuff.

Vis will probably be lousy and there might be all sorts of things down there that you aren't looking for...like roles of fence wire and stuff. Bring good cutters and enough breathing gas to get yourself out of those kinds of problems.

So like, I wonder if he needs a buddy.

What about snakes? Do you have cottonmouths in the mid-west? I've had them in my backyard when it floods. I just cannot deal with snakes....

Oh yuck, I didnt think about that, but thats just gross. Well, that answers that!!

DO NOT DIVE THE POND!!! Ick. :D

Just be careful of getting stuck in the mud during ingress and egress. This has happened to me before...:shakehead

We had 2 ponds on the farm I grew up on... I wouldn't even think about dipping my feet in them, let alone dive in them. Waaaaaay too many black snakes!
