I just returned from San Pedro, Belize today (saturday 7/16). The island is being evacuated due to Emily. Airport to close at 6:00 PM. A mass exudus of tourists and residents to Belize City. Airport was a in total caos. People with advanced paid tickets on Tropic Air had tickets that became first come first serve regardless if you had bought them months ago or trying to buy them today. Many people wil not make it home as scheduled or in advance of Emilly. Most hotels were booked in Belize City this morning.
I was very very lucky and was able to get home this evening. The line at San Pedro Airport was at least two hours long to get to ticket counter.
