alright guys and gals, we need help identifying essential extras. We did a search through the forums for "essential extras" and other keys words. We are two weeks from taking off for Phuket for 8 days of diving. We'd like input on any lesser known items that one should not leave without. Now is the time to get it. e're definitely opting for diving protection insurance. Puns, jokes are also welcome as we realize we're "cherries" and bound to have a few in store! Only please let us know that "it's" a joke!

O-rings, tool kit, extra hoses of appropriate length, mask, reg mouthpiece (I've brought an entire extra reg), fin straps (unless you're using spring straps), buckle, inflator, reg rebuild kit, second stage diaphragm, HID repair kit (if your using an HID), Aqua-Seal and Cotol, extra bungee cord, extra cave line, zip ties, swivel pin, Cristo-lube, batteries, pocket butane or propane torch, Quick Disconnect (if used on your rig).

Bring this stuff even if you don't know how to work on a reg or repair rips yourself. Even if you don't, someone else might. However, they can't help if they don't have the parts.

duct tape.

Which is like the force, there's a dark side and a light side and it holds the universe together...

Seriously though you may want to put a "save a dive kit" together, someone else may be able to give a better description of the items included...some of which might be, zip ties, extra fin straps, o-rings, batteries (for your light), that aqua seal stuff. Do you have a safety sausage or signaling device?

NEW's list is good, but some parts a little much for a newbie?

Black electrical tape often works better for in-water needs.

Weight belt keepers (4) even if your BC is integrated. Amazing how often someone loses a pouch, switches to a web belt, and has hello with the slipping weights.

Not spare parts, but often overlooked: Safety Sausage each, Storm Whistle each, 2 CDs glued back to back for signaling in the sun, and maybe even a Dive Alert air horn.

This is a document i either got off of SB or another site when searching about checklists of stuff to bring. I think it covers most things.

Use the force Luke...

Heh so true with Duct Tape, and the black tape i often take both. I know zip ties were mentioned but i often bring several sizes they are usable in many ways. Bring a scuba tool too.

Just a quick note: Rolls of duct tape can be pretty large and bulky for travel. I learned a trick from some backpackers; take a pen and wrap duct tape around it. You can do two or more wraps side by side on some pens. (use a cheap BIC pen so that you can unlock bikes while you are at it) You can wrap several feet of duct tape around the pen without taking up a ton of room. Take as much or as little as you think you might need, plus some more.
