Looking for advice on dive gear.

I have just started diving so I will be in rental gear for a while and slowly build my collection but at $80 dollars a pop for rental, I may buy a few items faster depends on the deals that are found. I am looking at the following items and would appreciate feedback.

Info
6’2” 220lbs
Dive Michigan for local – then trips

Fins -- scubapro seawing nova
Regulator – mk17 / g250 (octo --- ??)
Aeris XR-1 Computer Console
BC or BP/w – looking at scubapro nighthawk /classic or aeris 5 oceans. BP/w oxycheq hog/mach v wing – not sure if the BP/w is my best bet as a new diver as it looks like most of you guys have moved to this setup with experience
Computer – veo 250

Wetsuit – have a 5mil

Octopus??....You might want to look @ the DR 1215(linked).....I put one on a SP Mk 2 rig that I bought used & it works perfect...also was 50 bucks when I ordered it, but??....

Secondary regulators/Octopus

The Novas are awesome...I borrowed a pair from a buddy and got a set later that afternoon...

thanks for all the feedback. I am still reading all the posts in the fins and regulators section but feel confident that the BP/w is the way to go.

My setup:
Seawing Nova
Mk25/S600
Oceanic PP2
Seahawk BC with air2

This setup works great for me and I'm 6'4" and 257lbs. You cant go wrong with the knightwing and I use the reg setup since cold water in south Texas isnt a factor.
