as far as my knowledge of florida is concerned, just south of Tampa Bay, draws many a spearfishermen. Artificial reef systems consisting of concrete culverts, army tanks and boxcars provide shelter for some large fish including barracuda and Goliath Grouper (formerly known as jewfish which cannot be taken by spear or rod).
Also, for those looking for prehistoric finds, Venice Beach offers beach dives where shark teeth are plentiful as well as fossils from other prehistoric animals. Check with your local dive shop for an identification sheet.
