As I recall...
The brewery was somewhat Ivan-ed. It closed and re-opened under different management. Caybrew is nothing like Stingray. It's an American style lager. They now brew 4 beers, Caybrew, Caybrew Lite, Ironshore and White Tip. You can stop by the brewery for a sample or four to help you decide. Also, the brewery has periodic specials on out-dated beer. We drank $16/ci cases of Becks when we were down a couple of weeks ago. If you've ever bought beer on-island, you know what a deal that is.

Wow. You aren't kidding. Thats not a deal in GC, thats a theft!
Im excited to try the White Tip. I really like Caybrew's beer. My wife loves the CayLight.

Desite that, the diving is wonderful and I can't say enough in support of Cobalt Coast/Divetech and Compass Point/Ocean Frontiers. I dived the former 2007 and 2008 and the latter twice in 2011. I'm scheming on returning to Compass Point/Ocean Frontiers as we speak.

I can relate, per the Divi debacle on Cayman Brac, we no longer have a place to stay, in fact, Divi never has given much if any satisfaction to it's owners, no explanation as to how we are being treated other than tough bananas for all the owners. The diving is outstanding on the Brac but the condo is no longer standing (uninhabital) , why doesn't the Cayman gov't fine those who make decisions like this has to likely to be political or a pay off.
Fortunately, right now, the Alexander was built and I will let you know how it is.

The Alexander looks great and the food is very good. The only problem there is location...it is not on the ocean and the body of water it sits on can be rather fragrant from time to time. Hope for a breeze. Enjoy the diving.

What could be better than a Beck's while on the Caymans?

Two!

The diving is outstanding on the Brac but the condo is no longer standing (uninhabital) , why doesn't the Cayman gov't fine those who make decisions like this has to likely to be political or a pay off.

In a nutshell, the Caymanian government philosophy is pro business and very laissez-faire...an attitude that a "bad businessman" deserves to lose his shirt. But that also means that there's basically very few "Consumer Protection" laws. You'll also get to see the condos and particularly how relatively undamaged Bldg 2 is ... at least was, before it was allowed to stand for three years without even a tarp thrown over its roof.

Fortunately, right now, the Alexander was built and I will let you know how it is.

The Alexander looks great and the food is very good. The only problem there is location...it is not on the ocean and the body of water it sits on can be rather fragrant from time to time. Hope for a breeze. Enjoy the diving.

The Alexander's public spaces looks pretty snazzy ... I haven't seen the inside of a room yet ... and dining room is good (although pricey); their bar grub's almost as good as Brac Reef's IMO. The pond's odor is the common comment; occasionally mosquitos too.

What is the scoop on Stingray? I spend a lot of time on the Sister Islands, and have never thought to ask. Did the brewery close, or is Caybrew just a different product?

Grand Cayman,
Stingray City is a good place too see and feed trained stingrays, there is also a nice size moray that will probably show up for some hand fed squid. Caybrewery was open for tours when we went in 3/15/11 small but worth the time for the brewer.
