Thanks Drrich2, intent is 1 week live aboard and 1 week land based. Want my wife to experience the aggressor live aboard. We are more interested in corals and aquatic life than we are wrecks or deep diving. Cayman Aggressor and Cayman Brac are at the top of the list.

Thanks tursiops, we have performed dives to 160 feet in the Sea of Cortez to film hammerhead sharks - 1999 time frame, so the Blue Hole was identified only be cause it is always referenced in relation to Belize. At 77 years old and wife at 65, deep doesn’t intrigue me as much as it use to.

Although I really like the diving around Long Cay and Half Moon Cay (right beside the blue hole), I would not bother returning to the Blue Hole itself. Once was enough and there are more critters in other places.

Hi @CRT2

I have been on both the Cayman Aggressor and the Belize Aggressor.

We made the crossing on the Cayman Aggressor but had to miss one day due to deteriorating conditions. The trip would have been very disappointing had we not made it as many of the Grand Cayman dive sites were not the best. I could see doing a week on the Cayman Aggressor and a week at Compass Point/Ocean Frontiers on Grand Cayman or on Little Cayman or Cayman Brac

My trip on the Belize Aggressor was good, I'm not sure where I would spend another week in Belize

You could probably work out the same idea on Roatan

Best of luck

d^2b Thanks again. Kinda like the dive I did to 203’ in a mine in West Virginia - once was enough (1993).

scubadada thanks for all the input. We are considering Belize Aggressor one week and Cayman Brac one week.

It's the island itself that advertises the Blue Hole on vacation ads. I would say it's a bragging-rights dive, not a bucket list dive. If you haven't been to Roatan, the Aggressor is a nice LOB and then go for a land-based week. It has a wide choice of dive resorts (AKR for sure), island tours, and activities are great. A lot better if you can avoid all the cruise passengers when the ships are docked. If you're lucky.

I'm 67, and like you, I want to experience coral and sea life. None of that down there. I'm going to Belize in Feb. While everyone else dives the Hole, I'll stretch out on the boat or maybe just explore the rim wall like I did the last time with other 'been there/done that' divers.
