I'm fairly new to video myself having done only two trips with my camcorder. Curacao in January and Bonaire in March.
I had a heck of a time doing the editing, knowing absolutely nothing. I tried Power Director 6 and the end results weren't what I expected. Treid trial versions of Pinnacle and Sony Vegas and they are good, but I found them with too many options for my newbie brain. Someone mentioned ULead so I gave it a try. Finally, I found something I could work with, although I needed a bigger more powerful computer for down the road. I eventually bought ULead 11.5 Plus and am just getting started with it on my new puter. I think some of the programs are more sophisticated than others, but simple is better for me at this point. Maybe later I'll get some sort of PRO version, but for now????????????
I think you'll find color correction on ULead's trial version. I used it. One thing you should be aware of if you don't know already. If you didn't use a filter and everything is blue/green then I don't think you're going to ee very good results with any editing program as far as getting out the blue and introducing more red/orange/yellow. If it isn't there you can't bring it out.
Iuse a filter and it works well down o at least 80' for me. The problem is in the shallows (15' or so). Everyhting has that red tint to it and it takes a lot of work to "get the red out". And Visine doesn't do it.
PerroneFord on these boards did me a great service a while back. He coached me, so to speak, and said to stick with it and have patience. Let me say that to you as it is does pay off. And get you a filter.
