Hey everyone!

I am looking at getting the EDGE Epic regs, and although there seems to be a lot of talk about HOG Regs on SB I was wondering if anyone has any experience using EDGE Epic regs, since when I checked online there was barely any reviews on them...

Any general advice/opinions are also welcome:) Thanks in advance:D

I have the Salvo SR1, which is essentially the same as the EDGE Epic. It breathes fine at depths down to 130. The only issue I've had has been letting it sit pressurized in the hot sun seems to cause an IP creep and it starts to leak from the 2nd stage. If it was me I'd spend a couple more $ on the HOG, or a used SP or Apeks.

Sorry but what exactly is an IP creep...?

Intermediate pressure.

Your 1st stage takes tank pressure and steps it down to +/- 135 psi. That's the Intermediate Pressure. The 2nd stage steps the pressure down from the Intermediate Pressure to ambient pressure so you can breathe it. When a reg is in need of servicing you'll be able to see the IP creep up on a gauge, it won't lock up nicely around 135psi. When that happens it overpressures the 2nd stage, and you get a freeflow. I **think** what happens is that when it's hot out and you leave the reg pressurized the diaphragm in the 1st stage gets soft, flexes and results in the IP creeping upwards and the freeflow. I'm not certain that's the cause, but I've demonstrated it multiple times. Shut it down, purge it, cool it down for a while, and it works fine.

I do have an epic and haven't run into any problems yet. I really like mine. I only have a handful of dives on it but no problems to report. The reviews I found were all positive.

I should mention That I like it enough that im getting ready to buy a second one for the gf.
