To all those other divers if you really want to be safe 100%, Go and play chess or something else.

Maybe he'd take another boat (with no grounding incident record).....after all SW does not hold a monopoly of liveaboards in tubbataha, right? You go and play chess and maybe drink some kool-aid. I wouldn't be surprised if you'll not post again...

clgsamson:
Ok if it was offered in its cash equivalent, would you still take the voucher?

Coming from SW I'll take anything.:D

Matthew:
Would you rather that they did not offer anything? If I were one of the guests my compensation would be important to me as much as the operator being made accountable.

oh compensation should be given , REIMBURSEMENT not a voucher.

a voucher doesn't give the inconvenienced the choice .

a simple test .

1. Was their safety compromised
2. in the event of investigation would the guilty be given the penalties of the law
3. the rescue of passengers on another vessel is part of maritime law, the passengers whould be rescued but not the vessel to be used as a tug boat
4. is there a violation of maritime safety laws that a passenger vessel salvage another vessel with passengers on board?
5. compensation should be given otherwise the court may order the operator
6. check the laws on customer rights, the customer may demand full reimbursement or they may seek other avenues to seek compensation
7. because no one died and vouchers were paid the gravity of the situation should be renege to the back of their minds or should measures be taken that this does not happen again.
8. was there negligence? accidnets do happen but not to the diligent professionals. if professinals do make accidents they do nto dismiss the incident they make amends and measures that the incident would not be repeated again.

do you think the owner of SW and the vessels would be happy on this and let the captain of Eco go scott free? .....

My name is martin and I was on the eco explorer when it ran aground. I have been browsing thru the comments on this forum and i must say that if you were not there during the incident you have no business criticizing expedition fleet much more insult scubaworld employees ( these employees were not even involved in the incident ). It is sad to think that for people like us who can afford to dive, one would think we would have some upbringing of some sort.

blah blah blah

Accidents happen!!! that is a simple fact of life!!!!!!!!!!!! no one wants it to happen but unfortunately it does!!!!!!!!!!!

For those who have been there during that time and have posted nasty stuff think about what was really important to the captains and the crew of all three ships. For those who were not there .........you dont even have the right to comment on this!!!!!

blah blah blah

martin - how dare you say I have no right to comment on this. Tubbataha is a WORLD HERITAGE SITE. It brings much needed foreign dollars into a bumbling economy. Yes, accidents happen BUT THIS IS THE THIRD TIME these dumb asses rammed their frikin' boat on to the reefs and they must be held accountable. That plot of reef they destroyed will take 5+ years to recover (and 5 years is being generous). Who else should criticize them more than the divers who enjoy the reefs here? Do you think a small blog in the Inquirer is enough attention for this incident? Your comment on being able to afford to dive is another slap in the face. Maybe we can afford this incident, but think about the bangkero's and their families who need the reefs to earn their living. Think about the marine biologists who need the reefs for their career work. It's a shame that some people who can afford to dive can also afford to dismiss this incident.

Just because the SW crew were abiding and even commendable to some is no excuse for this. That is the least they could have done. Try looking at the big picture now.
