Hey ya'll.
I just found out that LP is going to start selling
used scuba equipment and offering a trial
period for the used gear they sell. I
think it will hard for those Ebay sellers
to compete with that!
Maybe they will put Ebay out of business also.
Has anyone used this new service from LP?

I was actually joking about putting Ebay out of business...
just thought I might get some bites from the
LP diehards on the board

I just got an email from LP wanting to buy any old equipment I have and letting me know that they were going to start selling it. I for one will not buy used off of ebay, there is just no telling what you would end up with and no good way of getting your money back if what you get is junk. With the warrenty that LP is going to offer, it may well be a good place to buy used gear. Guess we will see.

LP sells on ebay too, they usually wind up getting more for their stuff at auction than what they sell it for online.

Shhhh... most people haven't figured out that LP has been on there for years with a sock puppet selling for them....

Of course the question is: will you be able to get good gear with a warrenty at a lower price then if you bought new from their web site?

We all know that LP can outsell and underprice anything your LDS can do...

rakjar -- i think the more appropriate question is
"unless you know the person who is selling the
used gear, why buy used gear from anyone but LP since
they are going to give you a trial period to test out
the equipment"

Mo2tivation - what is the name of the LP sock pocket
on Ebay?

look around. Its not hard to find. Remember where LP is located. Look at the prices the seller is selling for. remember the stuff they sell - It'll take you a few minutes, but you'll find him.

Go pay retail. Sure there is some risk when you buy a used reg on e-bay for $35.00. But take a hard look at the product, the seller and his location, and ask questions. There are some really great buys.

Looks like LP has at least 2 sellers on ebay: scuba-equipments and scubabargain. Take a look at their stores. One is using same phone # as LP catelog.

Now is that any way to run a dive shop? Well, maybe.
