A couple of questions:

Has anyone done any dealings with Easy Diver?
Looking for a good charter to do a couple of dives...
One thing I noticed, you have to bring your own tanks. Is that the norm?

Thanks
Russ

For the most part it is, i been very lucky that a couple times the Captain of the boat i use the most told me, don't worry i will get the tanks for you since he is going to bring some for himself, but that is just because they are pretty nice, for the most part you have to carry the tanks yourself.

Unless you are in a resort like Cancun and Bahamas where the Marina is own by the dive operator and in that case they will have the tanks ready for you on the boat.

And since you are located in the North Shore you should try Cape Ann divers, they are really nice operates out of Gloucester.

And sorry can't help, I do not know Easy diver.

Never dealt with them, but yes bringing your own tanks is the norm for charters in New England unless you pay extra.

While I have never deal with Easy Diver for charters, I will give them a good vote of confidence after my experience with Fred at SeaRovers yesterday. He and I were able to work out a solution to a problem I had been having with NAUI for quite a long time, which had soured my relationship with them.

Also, check out NADE for diving around here. www.northernatlanticdive.com

Like everyone else said, tanks are usually my responsibility. Some boats will let you pay a fee to rent tanks from them, some boats I have been on don't even offer that option.

Our dive club has used both North Atlantic divers and Cape Ann. They said they preferred the North Atlantic divers by a landslide over Cape Ann divers.
I actually met the people who run North Atlantic Divers this weekend at the Boston Sea Rovers conference. I talked with them along with two officers from our dive club. Both people that run the operation are also divers.

I've heard of Easy Divers and understand them to be less of the tough type of dive boat who do dives based on basic OW diving were you go out and do some easy not too difficult dives as their name states. In this way everyone is comfy and no one gets left out.

Nothing like using your own tanks; anyway, you can head to the dive shop if you need rentals.

I'de give them a try and post your experience here and see if they live up to theur name.

Best of luck

I love the Easy Divers crew--a total hoot. They live up to their name, both in terms of dives (always in the 20-50 foot range, always in as sheltered water as they can find), and their attitude, which is that we're all grownups and all one family. I can't wait to get back in with them.

And try out my new steel tanks!

Last time I dived with Easy Diver was three (?) years ago. I really enjoy the boat atmosphere, but frankly when I want to do the kind of dives they offer, I just go from shore. For a boat trip, their dives are very shallow.

And yes, you bring your own tanks on all boats. If you rent tanks from Cape Ann Divers, they will probably arrange to get them to the boat for you, but that's extra (usual rental cost).

I guess i need another tank
Are the dives worth the money if they are so shallow?
Is the lobstering, scenery etc. that much better than you can get from the shore?
I just started diving, and have very limited NE experiance, easy diver sounds perfect for a start
