We've gone out on Easy Diver several times and had great dives. On one of the days it as pretty lumpy out and we found a 'sheltered' spot to poke around in. It was relatively shallow, but it was divable without getting the snot kicked out of you. On a calmer day I hit 85 feet on my first dive and 60-ish on the second. I haven't found Fred's choice of sites a problem, we had fun and brought home a bunch of bugs.
Fred is a bit of a character and has opinions that he's not afraid to share, but as a curmudgeon-in-training I rather enjoy folks who speak their minds. He's been diving since Hector was a puppy and he and his crew dive a rather unusual gear set up. It works for them, I'll stick with what works for me.
From what I've seen he has a pretty dedicated group of people who dive with him. FWIW, we'll dive with them again, anyone who hands me a steaming cup of soup when I climb up out of 40 degree water is OK in my book.
