Its time to update my regulator and any help would be appreciated. I am strictly diving warm water to rec limits up to 120'. I am down to choosing between the Apeks XTX20 or Zeagle Envoy Deluxe. Due to diving in heavy currents I am more concerned which might be the better breather?

well, you picked 2 great regs to choose from.... you should be fine with either of the 2. great regs from great companies... alot of people like apeks regs... alot of people like zeagle.
what do you like most?

cant miss on either, but i would prefer to go with the zeagle for the customer service, scott zeagle is a scubaboard member and have seen him take care of problems personally. have not seen that from aqualung who owns apex.

I prefer a user adjustable 2nd for diving in current.

The Zeagle, on performance, customer service, a great company, and US based. Hands down Zeagle.

How would you compare them to the Aqua Lung Legend? What model would you recommend for a doubles and eventually tech?

Oh ... one more question ... how are they in COLD water? I mean Great Lakes cold ... upper 30s to low 40s.

If you are staying in the 40 range - I don't think you'll have a problem with any reg. To get much below that - then go with something sealed like the Flathead VI. But the Envoy deluxe is a great breathing reg...

Here's a quote from our site:

Both the Zeagle Envoy and the Zeagle Envoy Deluxe Regulator have had Rodale's review them...Here is what they say about the Envoy Deluxe..."The Zeagle Envoy Deluxe Regulator is similar to the Envoy, with the addition of a resistance knob that enables you to tune the regulator to diving conditions. It was the only reg in it's price class to earn perfect simulator scores. The Zeagle Envoy Deluxe Regulator Work of breathing was slightly better than the Envoy... thanks to the ability to adjust for optimum performance. It's dry, a great breather, and clears easily."
