If your equalizing difficulties or allergies are enough of a hassle to consider seeing a doctor, consider the use of Nasal Steroid sprays such as Nasacort AQ, Flonase, Nasonex, and a half-dozen or so others.

They have been highly beneficial to a number of patients with "problem ears" and allergies, and don't mess with your alertness.
