Deeper freshwater doesn't get colder than 4°C or 39.2°F. If your computer is reading 37°F, that's because the tempsensor/circuitry isn't all that accurate - kind of like my car shows a different outside temp than the car parked next to it.

Actually water is at its densest at about 4c, and it sinks because the water is colder starts to rise. This happens because ice is more boyount than liquid water. Water at thermocline and in the hypolimnion can reach about 35f. Any lower and it would need to be very deep to avoid solidifying.
