I am looking for a little help with my Ys-D1's. Ive been shooting with them and the RDX housing for the Canon SL1 for a little over a year now. I purchased the system used from my dive shop owner but the strobes were my own from a previous set up with fewer dives on them.

I always test my set up up for one or two shots above water to make sure everything is hooked up right and all seemed good. Once i was in the water I noticed one of the strobes was not firing all the time or was firing out of sync with my other strobe. Red lights were on for both the strobes.

I use Eneloop rechargeable batteries and have two different sets, eight each(both are black batteries one is with the purple, one is with orange, pro and something else) but I always make sure I have the same type batteries in both strobes. On the subsequent two dives I tired switching off and on, switching batteries and made sure settings were the same and they just would not fire at the same time.

Any help would be appreciated.

From a Wetpixel post:
"Try switching the strobes: if one of the strobes is acting up it probably doesn't matter whether it is is on the L or R side.
Then switch the cords: does the problem move with the cord?

You are trying to work out whether the problem moves with the strobe or with the cord."

are you using electrical or optical sync?
Bill

If you're using optical sync with YSD-1's, make sure you have a good quality multifiber cord. Some people have reported poor flash recognition with lower quality single strand FO cords.
