Dove Deadman's Reef in Laguna Beach today and came across a monument to "Dudley of Deadman's". The monument appeared to be a concrete slab poured in the shape of a coffin with a tank, snorkel fins and booties sticking out the back. The monument had an engraved name plate that read "Dudley of Deadman's". Hillarious.:D

This was no small feat. This thing must have been very heavy.

Anybody else want to shed some light on this mystery?

Someone placed it there in early May/late April, possibly as a not-so-pretty answer to Shelly of Shaw's.

I've never seen Shelly at Shaws, I've never seen the Lady of the Garden at Long Point. Now there's another statue! You got to lead me down to see her sometime Bottomtime. I need her photo in my collection.

You haven't seen the Jesus Blob either. :)
Evil Jeff wanted to add another statue near Our Lady of the Garden. He works for a publisher that prints religious books. One day, a guy came in and gave them a bunch of Jesus statues. Not knowing what to do with them, Jeff took one home. It sat in his backyard for more than a year. One day, we filled the hollow statue with concrete and a sand screw, painted it gold and took it to Marineland. I entered from the point because getting the other statue out there was a monumental task. It weighed a ton, and dragging it a quarter mile on the surface with a liftbag against the wind took every ounce of strength I had.
I entered the water with the Big J on my chest like an otter with a rock and paddled out to Ted's Pinnacle. The bottom near Our Lady was too hard, so we screwed Jesus into the sand about fifteen feet away. Our Lady of the Garden is a cement garden fountain. Jesus was made of plaster. He didn't last many days, but the concrete interior stands today.
