Forgive me if there is a thread like this out here. I have been searching the archives, and could not find anything that answered my question.

I am curious what the "standard" is for hose installation/routing from a Y-Valve setup? I have gotten a couple different answers from people at my LDS.

Do it like you do your twins. Primary and BCD inflator on the right; drysuit, octopus and spg on the left.

I'd like to caution against Y-valves. I had considered one until my "OOA" incident reported over a year ago on SB. Of course I've considered reg failure as an issue and thought I'd get a Y-valve. However my incident was apparently due to a clogged tank debris tube. Under such a scenario, a Y-valve would provide no backup. I stick with total redundancy now.

Thanks for your replys. Dr. Bill, I remember reading your post, glad you made it. I have to agree that the Y-Valve isn't double redundancy, but in many cases it's better than one regulator. If I were to dive solo or deep, I would use a second tank.
