All,
Just a quick note about Tobins gear and service. TOP NOTCH!
I received the Torus 26 right before we left for our trip to the warm waters of the Turks and Caicos. It took me about 15 minutes to rig up the Hog harness to proper fit and then it was packed away in the carryon. Yep EVERYTHING fit in the carry-on. I trust no gear to be checked. Try that with a jacket.
Anyway. Perfect trim in the water. Two XS-Scuba pouches (one on each tank band) with 4 pounds each and I was perfectly weighted (I am a bouyant sonofabeyatch). The couple of times I wore my X-Shorts I threw a five pounder in the top cam band pocket to bring me to 9 pounds. I was using the med SS plate. No movement of the tank whatsoever. I was able to sling the rig on when needed and slide in sitting the other times. One thumb in each chest D-ring was all that was needed to doff.
One dive we chased some wildlife with the current towards the end of our dive and we knew we might have a short surface swim back to the boat once we hit the surface after swimming into the current at 15 feet while off gassing. Well I just tooted the inflator a couple of times, turned on my back and road that rig like I was sitting in a recliner. NICE. BTW, we all agreed that would be the last time we overshoot the boat and have a surface swin into the current, albeit a short one.
One thing I did notice, I never really had any air in the wing. Never really had to put much in and never really had to purge that much out. Love it.
The rig was going to get some north eastern exposure here in the waters of New Jersey, but Ernesto put a damper on that. Maybe next week depending on how the tide is running.
Just so you know, even MOONIE gives two gnome thumbs up for Tobin's gear. Buy with confindence.
