Mine came yesterday. It installed easily on my Salvo 21W HID in about 5 minutes. Nice accessory even if you don't have a scooter.

I just have a few dives on mine, and agree, a very good accessory.

For those without scooters, what does the thumb loop offer you that you're not getting from a temporary hold on the can light? The only example I can come up with (since someone mentioned it elsewhere) is pull and glide, where you'd want to be able to use your right hand even marginally while holding the light if going to vent the wing. Thanks!

With the light hanging on your thumb, you still have use of your fingers to do other things. I'm not sure how much I really need it, but I have this love for gadgets....

Right, I get that you have your four fingers free. Just trying to understand what you can do with them that's worth the purchase (for those of us without scooters). Again, pull and glide seems like one possible use (unfortunately, where I usually dive, that's almost never needed).

Well, I like it with thick wet or dry gloves, gives a firmer and more stable grip. Certainly not required, but the add-on works real well for those that want it.

How do I decide if I want it without knowing if it works real well? Isn't what you wrote backwards? Maybe I just need to try one. Haven't noticed any issues with gloves, but then, always interested in better approaches. Thanks for the response.

Another good application is for a reel work. When you wind up the reel (side handle) for a long time, it will give more freedom on your hands.

???

How does the thumb loop help with reeling? I thought that was the point of the goodman?

Imagine how to wind up a side handle reel in UW. I use a reel a lot (800~1500'), almost every local dives.

In my case, I hold a goodman handle on the left hand and wind up the reel with a right hand. However, the light can't point forward nicely and goodman handle always contacts the handle of the reel so that it becomes very slippery. You might be ok for a short time, but for 800~1500' reel, it doesn't work. Alternative way is "Clip you light off to your right chest D-ring and tuck the cord back"

However, with a thumb loop, you can hold the light and reel handle together very easily and there is no stress on your left hand.
