Having only run a 400' reel (which we do often on local wrecks), I hadn't noticed any "reel" fatigue, but I now see how what you're saying could lead to a nice break. Thanks.
 
How do I decide if I want it without knowing if it works real well? Isn't what you wrote backwards? Maybe I just need to try one. Haven't noticed any issues with gloves, but then, always interested in better approaches. Thanks for the response.

I don't think what I wrote is backwards. The quality of the add-on is what i was referring to when I said that it "works real well" and is "very good", as in: if you already know that you want a thumbloop, the DSS add-on is a sturdy, good quailty product.
 
Ok, gotcha. I was trying to get at: "How do I know if I want one given that I don't scooter?"

So far, I think I've gotten (I) when needing to pull and glide, or (II) when running 1500' of line.
