Oh, you're assuming everyone blows bubbles ;-)
On CCR you don't! You do have bailout, but you don't want to use that as it's frequently very expensive gas. I do use my drysuit inflate, but with CCR it's essential backup so I'd rather not use it for sending up an SMB. Obviously on OC you’ve pretty much infinite gas so using the backgas to send up an SMB is fine.
