Does the APEKS DS4 require a different inflator hose than other regulators? I rigged up a set of DS4s and on both the inflator hoses leaked. One is blowing by the piston (air blowing out the plastic endcap,) so I am returning both, but has anyone expeirienced this?

I can't say for sure in general, but I have 2 DS4s and put standard inflator hoses on them with no problems.

Same here... Nicked or missing o rings perhaps?

I replaced the O-ring, doesn't seem to be "mashing" it correctly to seal properly. Any experience with air blowing out of the edges of the plastic window on the end of the DS4?

Air blowing out past the environmental seal cap sounds like an HP seat problem. Obviously that's not good and taking them back is pretty much the only option.

Can't say I've ever had a problem with an inflator hose.

As nadwidny said, that's the environmental seal by your description and has nothing to do with the hoses per se. I'd have them looked at by a dive shop. When was the last time you had them serviced? From the sounds of it, you won't be able to figure anything out wihout taking them apart. Not something you may be comfortable with. If you don't have an LDS that does it, places online like TDL will overhaul them. Whatever you do, I wouldn't dive on them.

Just my thoughts.

And what does this have to do with DIR? If anything it should be in the Regulators section.....or do GUE people have their own issues when it comes to first stages? :rofl3:

I figured since the DS4 is one of the regulators of choice for DIR that questions on the DS4 would be best answered here. These are new regs...supposedly.

Silly me, what was I thinking....no-one else dives those regs just DIR/GUE divers, I am sure, like everything else, they are the only ones that know the answer to the question.

Please forgive me :D

Odd, a search of topics on this regulator showed a majority of threads about the DS4 were in the DIR forum, so sorry, I guess you just dive them because someone says to and don't really have any answers. I'll know better next time....
