I’d think DGX would offer a pretty good variety of pouches, even zippered ones, but I’ve learned zippered pouches don’t work nearly as well as velcro flaps.

Hey I hate to drudge up an old thread but I'm in the process of trying to find a pouch for a DryFOB XL. How confident have you been in the Velcro on this thing? With the DryFOB XL fully in there, do you get enough Velcro engagement to be confident it'll stay secured? With my luck, i'll do a boat entry and the velcro will fly open. I've been looking for a pouch w/ a plastic buckle like many of these pouches have but they are all way larger than I really want. I purchased a few other weight pockets but they've all been a few inches shorter than advertised unfortunately.

I’m sorry to say I don’t see it in the current catalog, but I have an old Dive Rite pocket that fits your description perfectly, including a side-release buckle. (I also have a bungee loop in there, so I’m not completely dependent on it staying shut.). I suspect it was originally sold as a mask pocket.

Goes right where a canister light would.

(@Jaan, I know you’ve got a couple of other of my pictures on your faq pages; permission granted for these if they’re interesting to you.)

ETA: Your local shoe repair or luggage repair (or you) could easily bang a buckle onto an existing pouch in a similar way if you found a pouch you were otherwise happy with.

EATA: I think I added the grommets to allow a bungee. Again, easy DIY.

We had someone looking at making pouches for us but we'd have to order some insane quantity and then the whole shipping/tariff thing kicked in making seem even less practical. I'll poke around a little more at finding a solution but the HOG and this Dive Rite seem like good XL suggestions ...

As for the Velcro, I dove with the HOG multiple times with no issues. You could also clip something into the cap to clip it onto something like your beltmount or even through the two drain holes at the bottom of the HOG if you wanted to be extra extra safe.

Here are some pics, As you'll see, you get the 'full velcro' attached on both sides. The XL fits into the pocket with about a 1/4" lip and then the flap covers the whole area of velcro.

You can see the top closes completely with the DRYFOB-XL inside

While it looks like there is 'velcro left' at the bottom, the whole patch of velcro from the lit is touching the velcro on the side.
The velcro patch on the top flap is 1 3/4" x 2 1/4" so there is some good contact there.

That looks ripe for a bungee "safety" loop.

Couple of gromets\melted-holes on the edges of the flap. Across the face of the flap, through the holes and hook the loop under the bottom of the pouch.

Paracord and a cord-lock would also work.

Great idea actually, so long as the bungee can't work it's way up too far on the backside to allow the flap to open enough to slow the item to slip out

I ended up going this way instead of a larger pouch I had also gotten. As otthers stated, fits like a glove and I went a bit overkill and not only bungee'd the flap using grommets I went ahead and used line to secure the FOB to the pouch as well. So unless that line breaks or I somehow lose that pouch, that thing is staying with me. If that all happens, I'm having a VERY bad day. Now I just need to find the best way to secure the line that holds my items in the DRYFOB to the LID. That way nothing is ever going anywhere w/o me following it.

Very Nice I use that pouch too and I think I'll follow suit with 'hardening' the enclosure :) Well done!

One thing I think i need to do is find a more "elastic" bungee. With what I have, I have the bungee as short as I can to pull it around the bottom and it's still too large to really prevent the flap from sliding back and opening if it really wanted to. Granted, the line would retain it but I don't want to be that guy potentially trying to put himself back together on a boat entry.

Maybe use a springless cord-lock to allow you to shorten the bungee when closed

I use the double-hole style on my computer double-bungee strap.
