If you cap it, should go without saying to uncap it and drain / wash it out after you're done. Cause the cap will still let water in - the quick connect sleeve slides free.

Whatever gives you peace of mind with your kit is a good thing.

It's a good thing until you forget the doohickey one day and spend your entire dive needlessly worrying about your drysuit hose
