Hi All,

I just switched to a dry suit for cold water diving. It's terrific but I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for configuring some of my equipment. I like gauges, timers, computers, etc. on my arm.

The problem I'm having is, my computer, compass, watch, no longer fit on my arm.

This is obviously not the greatest problem ever, but if anyone has any suggestions, that would be helpful. I was thinking, maybe there are some sort of extenders for the wristbands on these things.

No idea will be rejected out of hand, no matter how outlandish.

My name is Jeff and I approve this ad.

you can remove the straps and install bungee line, or cut
the straps and attach bungee to the "stumps"

i'd use two straps of bungee, just to be safe

Andy,

You always have good ideas. That will work for the compass, I'll need to figure something else for the computer. It's a ScubaPro Xtender, looks more like a regular watch, which I use if for sometimes.

lol, i wish!

that's SOP for drysuit diving with gauges around here

What he said, bungie or surgical tubing.

One thing that I've seen that I though was quite cool was that someone took a wrist slate, did the bungie thing and then attached their computer and backup computer to the slate. The advantage was that the computers were always side by side and easily compareable. Depending on the size of your slate, watch and compass you could potentialy make a very nice wrist mounted console.

If you're diving wet gloves you should be able to get the straps around your wrists, of course if you're diving with a canister light this won't work out to well. I have an air integrated computer so the way I dive is to have my compass strapped around my left wrist and my watch zip tied to my computers hose, cannister on the right hand.
Personaly I'm a big fan of the wrist slate console idea, when i get a wrist mounted computer that's what i'm gonna do.
Hope this helps

If you have a Suunto SK-7 compass, it fits very nicely into one of Tobin's boots which are easily set up with dual bungees, which holds the compass stable on your arm.

The Extender looks like it has a very similar strap to my Suunto Mosquito, and that came with an extender. If you have an LDS that carries Suunto, you might ask them if they sell the extenders separately. Failing that, you can always replace the strap with X-bands, although that might make wearing the computer as a watch a little awkward.

I think between all these suggestions, I have the solutions I need.

I do like that slate idea. I use a wrist slate, so I'm already comfortable with that.
