You did the right thing.

It really, really sucked. Filled with characters nobody cared about, too many sub-plots that were not compelling, too many questions left unanswered, poor development of the story.

I'm serious - I was just a bad, bad movie.

You missed nothing.

The absolute worst part is that it took an excellent book that was really true to the environment and atmosphere in which it was set and sanitized it beyond belief.

Gloucester is a WORKING fishing port...it is VERY blue collar and at one point during the late 80s (so I am told) was a major port for large heroin shipments into the US.

I drive by the Crow's Nest almost every time we go up to Cape Ann to dive (where most of us dive up here). The place is SKETCHY beyond words...

But take a look at the movie and you see something slightly different...

Movie sucked. When they pulled out the "alien card" I almost left. On top of that they had to EXPLAIN to the audience that there were homages to Alien the movie:

"We named the red fungus Ripley, after the character in the movie Alien"

The main character is named Jonesey...that's the cat's name in Alien.

The whole concept was ripped off from alien: there are these alien bug things that grow in animals torsos until they reach maturity. They then lay eggs, which hatch so they can enter an animal and mature.

LAME!

However, the AniMatrix short, The Final Flight of Osiris was kick-ass! I'm counting down util 5/15 when Matrix Reloaded comes out.

I quit reading Kings stuff a few years ago. For me, the ending was always a let down. You'd have this great story unfolding and the ending would just bite. "It" is a perfect example of that. King seems to have ups & downs with his writing. He'll turn out some pretty good stuff & then he'll write a few lame stories. Two of the worst were Cujo & Christine. I thought both of those were stupid & a complete waste of time.
What did you guys think of The Shining remake. I thought the original movie, with Jack Nicholson was so much better. It's a classic.
