Where to go before Maumere, or after Makassar

We’ve booked a Flores Sea trip, a couple of Junes out. I’m trying to identify a place to spend a week before or after the LOB (before is better for us). So far all I’ve found is Sebayur, which may be a candidate, and Tampotika, which is just one Batik flight from Makassar, but the diving seems a bit anticlimactic after the glories of the Flores route. Any suggestions?

That's a great suggestion, @Carlos Diver--thank you. Re Indonesia travel, we were wrestling for airspace with a volcano last spring (we lost, of course), so we assume there will be snags.
