I have never used the current Dräger reg (only
their legendary Shark), but the 7000 is a conventional 2nd stage design with diaphragm first, that will probably breathe more like an Apeks. Dräger generally have excellent workmanship, but are focussed on reliability and compatibility with their full face mask ("Panorama Dive"), and high flow of air for working divers, not smoothness of breathing. Service costs for Dräger are several times higher than for the mainstream reg companies we know. My advice regarding Dräger is that they cater to commercial and law enforcement divers that use the full face masks with comms. Public safety agencies with with big budgets buy those. If you don't need that, the big recreational SCUBA companies provide more bang for the buck.
The Shark is comparable to the TFX as they both are co-axially balanced, and the Shark is IMHO one of the most reliable and bulletproof second stages. The critical moving parts are sealed dry inside the 2nd stage valve body!
But the Shark (let alone the 7000) does not breathe like a Scubapro D400 or Atomic TFX. The many unique features are outlined in the
TFX thread here. I have not had mine in the water yet, but in a nutshell others have reviewed it as the smoothest breathing reg. Then there is titanium. There is not much that makes sense to compare...
I find it hard to give advice concerning high end $$$ regs. Perhaps get a used D400, serviced by someone who really knows them, and compare with what you have. If you love it, it's bad news: You may want to save for a TFX. If you think it's not groundbreakingly different, then perhaps a G260, S620ti, Atomic B2, T2X. etc...
