Just got off the boat (the dive boat of course) after three dives today. Dive two was my 2,000th dive of the decade. It was at Sea Fan Grotto. Mayor/Dive Boat Captain Bob Kennedy decided to play a little trick on me and short fill my tank. Of course he told me before I suited up and I still made it past 150 ft to film sea pens.
I've been diving five decades now, and I've never reached that magic mark in any of the others. Of course I had real jobs back then so there wasn't much time to dive. I'm not even sure my dives in the previous four decades add up to 2,000 (I have no logs from anything before June, 2000).
Now that I've gotten a real dose of nitrogen, I think I may just enjoy the weekend of July 4th as an extended surface interval. I may even go to the beach!
Oh, and after putting 2,000+ air fills on my Master Card... I'm going to have to get a real job to pay off that credit card debt! Actually Catalina SCUBA Luv has been fantastic to me during this decade... I couldn't have done it without them.
Of course there are many dive pros who do far more dives in a similar period... but you guys and gals get paid to do them!
