I am considering getting a DR BP, but have noticed that DR BPs have fewer holes (only one at the center top vs. two or three, and not as many along the sides towards the bottom) as compared to others and my present BP.

Is this a limitation or are those extra holes redundant (for wing/tank trim or accesories)?

Thanks

Hi,

Thanks for the post. Most of the extra holes are redundant and we chose to minimize the amount of holes for weight purposes (ie to achieve a 6lb steel plate vs 5lb), which is what we've found to be most beneficial.

Do you have a particular application that requires the extra attachment points? Let me know how I can assist.

Best,
Kathleen

If you have specific needs, you could always customize the plate with a drill press.

If it's SS, then I'd get one that looks like it was used for shotun practice.

I've got a pile of bits I've destroyed drilling holes in mine over the years. I wish I had bought one with holes all around it. You are going to be surprised where you will need holes as your diving evolves. It's easier to add lead to the plate (V weight, etc) if you are worried about that extra pound than it is to drill holes, IMO.

:rofl3:

I use aluminum and hadn't thought about SS. I agree that more holes will provide significant flexibility as your needs change (and they will).

SS sounds more and more interesting... put enough holes in it and it'll weight the same as alu :rofl3:!
