Don't wax this dry suit zipper

When I used my Scubapro semi dry suit I lubricated the plastic zipper with silicon gel and stored the suit with the zipper open. After one year of frequent usage the zipper is still functioning even now that I don't use the suit anymore.

Now I lubricate my Bare metal zip with wax every so often, I have heard that you are supposed to clean the zipper with a toothbrush after a while to clean it from accumulated wax. I still store the suit with the zip open.
