I'm curious what everybody uses on the seals to help don their drysuit. I have been using Talc for the latex seals on my drysuit, which usually works great......but if the seal is at all wet, or you are a bit sweaty, the talc doesn't work so well. I know there is some specific dish soap that is recommended(no fragrance, chemicals, etc that would damage the seals) when using soapy water, but I can't for the life of me remember what it is.

KY jelly. Not sure if it is called this over the pond but it is designed to lubricate and not damage rubber. Another thing for the 'dodgy save-a-dive kit' section;)

"KY" (or generic equivalent) jelly.

I've also used talc but it is messy and not pleasant to breathe.

I'm running out of talc so I think I'm going to try KY jelly next.

When I took Cave I from Jarrod Jablonski he commented that the institutional-sized container of KY jelly that he had in his truck would get more than a few raised eyebrows from non-divers. :)

KY jelly for me too. You'll be amazed how much easier the seals slip on compared to talc or soapy water.

Ivory soap is usually considered safe if you want to try that. It's good for cleaning the seals.

Another thing to try is "newt juice" or anything like it. It's for wakeboard and waterski bindings.

My LDS stocks watersports equipment, and the newt juice comes in a spray bottle for about half of the cost of a tube of ky. less mess, more convenient, and it conditions the seals.
