Does Shark Week Affect Your Diving?

YES. I always spend a little more time looking over my shoulder (at least under my tube) after shark week.
Mind you I have seen black tip and grey reef sharks, leopard, and nurse sharks while scuba diving and it was great.
BUT seeing the guys put out the seal cut-outs behind the boat to get pictures of whites leaping at them always pops in my mind when I am abalone diving and laying on my float resting or paddling over deeper water. I realize that from below I look just like their regular food source.
While people are not part of their food chain, they are the apex predators in their environment.
More power to anyone who wants to see one while diving, but I have no desire to see a white shark while scuba or free diving. I will be the first to admit it is not just respect, but fear, and I fear the shark I don’t see the most.:wacko:
