Vicente:I have never had a problem with using a 7-foot. And for me it's another one of those things of why buy an intermediate step you are probably going to replace later?
I agree. I used a Sherwood jacket BC when I got a long hose. Didn't get a BP/W yet. Thought too much new equipment at the same time won't do me good. But I didn't like the hose routing of the 7 footer. Had too much slack. So I got a 5 footer.
When I eventually got a BP and a couple of wings, i had to switch to a 7 foot longhose 'coz the 5 footer tugged on my neck. Now I have an extra 5 foot longhose. Its maybe a waste, but it did do its job for quite a while.
Well, come to think of it, save some bucks, go straight to the 7 footer. And as for using a jacket, take it one step at a time, managing the "new" longhose with a "new" harness-BC-wing setup maybe too cumbersome. might very well distract you from the dive itself.
Hope this helps. Dive safe!
