I agree!!! If you dive in tropical water, my suggestion is - don't wear them (booties that is)! Get a pair of comfortable full foot fins suitable for scuba (e.g. Scubapro twin jets). No booties to hassle with and an added bonus - no fin buckles/straps to break! Yepeee! When ever possible I like to simplify, simplify...

While I love the feel and protection of my thick sole booties on/near the surface, I suspect the are really too big. When I dive, they hold so much water they start to feel like lead weights! (This was never a problem when I used to just snorkle.) I plan to take the advice given above and get a good pair of full foot fins to use when appropriate.

kelpmermaid once bubbled...
but I did have one pair that I came to hate because I felt there was not enough structure to the heel area.

High Heel Dive Boats ????? What a new craze.........:D

I have had way too many cuts and blisters on my feet to not wear booties. I wear them each and every time!

I have the full footed fins. After my last shore dive I was cursing those fins & decided to get boots & new fins to go with them. Now I'm not sure, because I like the full fitted (as Larry stated...simplfy) but ohhh, my achin' feet, on those shore dives. And I don't want to lug both types when I travel. Nor do I want all the hassel that the boots seem to have w/ zippers, height of boot, thickness of sole. Help!

One thing I have seen is a neoprean 'sock'. Its not a bootie, but its a sock. The person useing is had a fool foot fin, which was one size over sized, then she sliped on 2 3mm 'socks' then the fin.

Might be a good comprimise if you hate booties, but need the warmth.

I went and got a pair of neoprean socks for under my booties for when its real cold. :)

I tried wearing my fins without booties, but it was so uncomfortable. The thick booties add that extra comfort.

The one thing I hate about wearing booties is the tan line it leaves around your ankles (just like a sock tan)! :upset:
